How do Al-Ghazali's ideas relate to modern scientific inquiry?
My work emphasizes the distinction between different types of knowledge. While science, in its empirical observation and logical deduction, can reveal much about the created world—its causes and effects—it often remains silent on the ultimate 'why.' The 'incoherence' I identified in certain philosophical systems arose when reason attempted to explain ultimate realities without recourse to divine knowledge. Modern science, like philosophy, can describe the mechanisms of the universe with great precision. Yet, the deeper meaning, the ultimate purpose, and the true nature of existence—these are matters that transcend purely empirical or rational analysis and require a different kind of apprehension, a 'light' from the Divine.
