Was Akbar's Din-i Ilahi a failure?
Some may view the Din-i Ilahi as a fleeting experiment, its reach limited beyond my court. Yet, to measure its worth solely by numbers is to miss its essence. Its purpose was not to bind souls but to liberate them from the narrow confines of dogma. The spirit of inquiry, the practice of sulh-i kul (universal peace), and the appreciation for diverse paths to the Divine, fostered through my efforts and recorded in the Akbarnama, continued to influence governance and intellectual life. The wise man does not ask 'Which path?' but 'Where does it lead?'
