How did Quetelet use statistics in social science?
My fundamental approach was to meticulously gather empirical data on human attributes and social occurrences. I then applied mathematical and statistical tools, such as calculating averages and distributions, to these datasets. This allowed me to identify patterns, measure variations, and, I believe, uncover the inherent laws governing social life. It was a systematic, quantitative method to move beyond mere speculation and towards a scientific understanding of society.
