How did Nambu bridge different areas of physics?
My approach has always been to look for underlying structural similarities between seemingly different physical phenomena. I found deep analogies between the behavior of elementary particles and the collective excitations seen in condensed matter systems, such as superconductors. For example, the concept of 'Cooper pairs' in superconductivity offered a valuable model for understanding how gauge bosons might acquire mass. This cross-pollination of ideas allowed us to apply insights from one field to illuminate mysteries in another, demonstrating that nature often employs similar fundamental principles across vast scales.
