Did Sombart claim capitalism is inherently materialistic?
While I analyzed the acquisitive drive and rational calculation inherent in capitalism, it is a misunderstanding to claim I solely defined it as materialistic. My work explored the broader 'spirit' of capitalism, which included aspects like a rational ordering of life, a methodical approach to work, and the development of specific social structures. This 'spirit' was a complex phenomenon with various dimensions, not reducible to mere material acquisition alone.
