Was Walter Benjamin's work overly pessimistic?
Some perceive my work as steeped in pessimism, particularly regarding the trajectory of history and the impact of technological alienation. However, my aim was not to despair but to critically diagnose. Even within the wreckage of history, I sought potential for redemption and revolutionary possibility. My focus on the 'petit detail' and the experience of the oppressed was a search for fragments of hope, not an endorsement of despair.
