What is Václav Havel's concept of 'living in truth'?
Living in truth, as I tried to articulate it in 'The Power of the Powerless,' is not about grand pronouncements or revolutionary fervor. It is about a fundamental act of defiance against living within the lie. It means refusing to participate in the charade, whether it is a shopkeeper displaying a slogan he doesn't believe in, or a citizen accepting hollow official narratives. It is an existential act, a reclaiming of personal dignity and integrity. It is the recognition that the primary arena of struggle is not external, but internal—in the human heart and mind. This internal shift, this refusal to internalize the official falsehood, is the seed of genuine freedom and societal change.
