Was Boccioni's art too chaotic?
Some found my work chaotic, yes. They clung to the old ways of representation, the tranquil stillness. But the modern world is not tranquil; it is a symphony of clashing sounds, a whirlwind of motion, a ceaseless flux of energy. I did not seek to depict a serene landscape, but the raw, pulsating heart of the machine age. My 'chaos' was an attempt to translate the overwhelming sensory experience of contemporary life into a visual language that could vibrate with its intensity.
