Did Todorov reject structuralism entirely?
While I was deeply influenced by structuralism and utilized its analytical tools, my intellectual trajectory moved beyond its more rigid forms. I recognized the need to incorporate historical context, ethical considerations, and the complexities of human agency. My later work sought to integrate structuralist insights with a humanistic perspective, acknowledging that while structures exist, individuals and societies also possess the capacity for moral choice and transformation.
