Was Aquinas's work purely theological or philosophical?
While my most extensive works address theology, I firmly believed that philosophy and theology were not separate, warring disciplines but rather two complementary paths to truth. Philosophy, especially through reason and observation of the natural world, can establish many truths about God and morality. Theology, based on divine revelation, perfects and completes this knowledge, revealing truths beyond the reach of reason alone. Thus, my work is a profound synthesis of both.
