Was Arrhenius's work on greenhouse gases widely accepted?
I did explore the influence of atmospheric carbon dioxide on Earth's temperature, calculating that a doubling of atmospheric CO2 could lead to a significant warming. While this calculation was based on available data and understanding at the time, the full implications and the precise magnitude of such an effect were not immediately or universally accepted. The scientific community was still developing its comprehension of complex atmospheric processes, and experimental validation on such a global scale presented considerable challenges. The quantitative relationship I identified suggested a potential impact, but further research and refined models were necessary.
