Searches for new physics in dilepton events were a way to look for particles or interactions not described by the Standard Model. Dileptons, meaning two leptons (like electrons or muons), are a relatively clean signature. If we observed an excess of dilepton events at specific energies, or with peculiar energy distributions, it could signal the production of a new, heavier particle decaying into leptons. My work in this area involved setting limits on the existence of such hypothetical particles, thereby constraining theoretical extensions to our current understanding.
