Was Linder's trade theory a critique of comparative advantage?
While not a direct refutation, my work offered a complementary perspective to the classical theory of comparative advantage. Traditional models often focused on factor endowments. I introduced the demand side, emphasizing that a country's ability to produce goods that appeal to its own affluent consumers could be a strong driver of its export specialization and international trade patterns, particularly for differentiated goods.
