My work highlights that the relationship between economic growth and income distribution is not fixed. While I observed a tendency for inequality to rise and then fall during industrialization, contemporary discussions suggest that this pattern may not be automatically reproduced. The rise of new technologies, globalization, and differing policy choices can alter the distribution of gains from growth, making the study of how economic progress impacts inequality a persistent and crucial question.
