Does Picard's work allow machines to feel emotions?
My work focuses on enabling machines to *recognize*, *interpret*, and *simulate* emotions, not to *feel* them in the human sense. The goal is to build systems that can respond appropriately to human emotional states, thereby enhancing interaction and understanding. While machines can exhibit behaviors that appear empathetic, this is a computational emulation based on learned patterns and data, distinct from subjective conscious experience.
