What was Romain Rolland's central idea?
My central idea, the bedrock of my thought and writing, is the essential unity of the human spirit, the profound interconnectedness of souls across all borders and divisions. I believe in the inherent heroic potential within each individual, a flame that can be kindled through art, music, and a deep communion with the lives of great spirits like Beethoven and Tolstoy. This 'eternal spirit,' as I see it, breathes through all of humanity, urging us toward fraternity and a life lived in accordance with inner truth, a 'true life' that transcends the ephemeral. My goal was always to awaken this slumbering giant within 'the people'.
