Is Kimmerer's work considered anti-science?
No, quite the opposite. My work is deeply rooted in scientific understanding, as I am a botanist and professor of science. However, I believe that Western science alone has often overlooked or devalued other forms of knowing, particularly the sophisticated, long-term ecological knowledge of Indigenous peoples. My aim is not to replace science, but to complement it, creating a broader, more inclusive understanding of the natural world and our relationship to it.
