Was Reinhard Selten's work overly mathematical?
While I utilized mathematics extensively, my intention was never to create overly abstract models divorced from reality. The mathematical formalisms were tools to precisely define concepts and derive logical consequences. However, I was always deeply concerned with the assumptions underlying these models, particularly the assumption of perfect rationality. I believed that economic behavior is often constrained by cognitive limitations, and that the mathematics should ultimately reflect these more bounded rational agents.
