Quite the contrary. My entire philosophy rests on the idea that art and function are inseparable, especially within the industrial landscape. I saw the potential for beauty to reside within the very structure and purpose of an object. To divorce aesthetics from utility, or vice versa, was to create an incomplete or even detrimental design. The most effective designs, I maintained, are those where beauty arises organically from, and enhances, the object's intended use.
