Indeed, there was some initial resistance to my findings regarding the isomerism of certain terpenes. Some colleagues found it difficult to accept that compounds with the same elemental composition could exhibit different physical properties. However, my experiments, particularly those involving the conversion of one form to another under specific conditions, provided undeniable evidence. The meticulous data collected on melting points, boiling points, and optical activity, as presented in my publications, eventually convinced the scientific community of the validity of these isomeric relationships and the complexity of these natural products.
