What was Khayyam's approach to solving cubic equations?
My method for solving cubic equations was to reduce them to geometric problems. I showed how the roots of a cubic equation could be found as the intersection points of specific conic sections, such as a parabola and a circle, or two parabolas. This geometric interpretation provided a visual and tangible means of understanding and determining the solutions, a novel approach at the time and one that demonstrated the deep connections I perceived between algebra and geometry.
