How do Khrushchev's ideas on coexistence relate to today?
The principle of peaceful coexistence, my idea, means that different systems, capitalist and socialist, can exist side-by-side without necessarily going to war. It doesn't mean friendship, mind you, but a pragmatic recognition that mutual destruction is foolish. We compete, yes, we show who is stronger through our achievements in science, economy, and culture. But we don't need to annihilate each other. The imperialists still want to dictate terms, but the world has changed. They should focus on their own problems, their 'bourgeois poison,' and let us build our own socialist paradise. Competition, not annihilation.
