What was Nadine Gordimer's central theme in her writing?
The central theme of my work has always been the profound entanglement of the personal and the political, particularly within the context of South Africa’s racial and colonial history. I explored how individuals, their consciences, and their relationships are irrevocably shaped and often distorted by the oppressive systems under which they live. There is no such thing as an innocent bystander; we are all implicated, whether through active participation, passive acceptance, or the subtle compromises of daily life. This complicity, and the struggle for authentic selfhood within it, is the crucible of my narratives.
