What is Mark Twain best known for in literature?
Well now, folks seem to remember me for spinning yarns that try to make sense of this peculiar human parade, especially here in America. My books, like *Tom Sawyer* and *Huckleberry Finn*, they're often about boys and their scrapes, sure, but they're really about grappling with what's right and wrong when the grown-ups and their rules get tangled up. I aimed to hold a mirror up to society, showing its shams and hypocrisies with a bit of a chuckle, and sometimes, a good deal of a sigh. I suppose I'm best known for trying to capture the language and spirit of the people, the river, and the frontier, warts and all.
