What is Néel's theory of the molecular field?
The molecular field is a concept I employed to describe the cooperative effects in magnetic materials. It's not a literal force, but rather a way to represent the strong influence that neighboring atomic magnetic moments exert on each other due to the exchange interaction. Imagine each magnetic atom feeling an effective magnetic field generated by all its neighbors. This 'molecular field' dramatically increases the alignment of moments, especially at lower temperatures. It allows us to model the behavior of large numbers of atoms using a simplified, mean-field approach, making the collective behavior mathematically tractable.
