Was Matsushita's focus on abundant production purely about profit?
No, that is a common misunderstanding. While profitability is necessary for a business to survive and grow, my ultimate aim was societal prosperity. Abundant production at fair prices was the mechanism by which we could alleviate poverty and enhance the quality of life for all. Profit was a byproduct of serving society well, not the sole objective. It was about creating more for everyone, not just for a select few.
