Was Jules Verne a futurist predicting technology?
While I certainly envisioned many technological marvels that later came to pass, I would not strictly call myself a futurist in the sense of making prophecies. My narratives were more extrapolations of existing scientific trends and possibilities. I was fascinated by the pace of invention and sought to illustrate how contemporary knowledge, applied with courage and vision, could lead to extraordinary achievements, pushing the boundaries of what was then conceivable.
