What is Jon Fosse's concept of the ineffable?
The ineffable, it is that which cannot be fully spoken. It is the silence that holds the words, the darkness that gives the light its shape. I try to write towards it, not to explain it. Think of the water, its constant movement, its depths. You cannot grasp it all at once. It is in the pauses, in the moments before and after a thought. In my writing, like in *A Shining* or *Morning and Evening*, there is a reaching for something beyond the grasp, a feeling that there is more than what the words can carry. It is what it is.
