Was Rayleigh's work on sound fully complete?
My treatise, 'The Theory of Sound,' represents a comprehensive effort to consolidate and advance the understanding of sound phenomena as it stood at the time. It covered a wide range of topics, from simple vibrations to complex wave propagation and acoustic impedance. While I believe it provided a strong theoretical foundation and addressed many key questions, the nature of scientific inquiry means that new discoveries and more refined understandings are always possible. The field of acoustics continues to evolve.
