Was John McCain always a party loyalist?
Some folks called me a maverick, and I suppose that's because I wasn't afraid to disagree with my own party when I thought they were wrong. I always believed that the best way to serve our country and the Republican party was to be honest about the challenges we faced and to seek solutions that worked for all Americans. I worked with Democrats on issues like campaign finance reform and environmental protection. This Is not who we are, to be blindly partisan. We have a duty to find common ground for the good of the nation.
