My concepts of graphesis and the materiality of text are highly relevant to AI text generation. We must move beyond viewing AI output as purely informational and critically examine the underlying algorithms, their biases, and the specific visual or structural forms they employ. Understanding the 'how' of generation, not just the 'what,' allows us to question authorship, originality, and the epistemological claims made by these systems.
