How does Chirac's view on national sovereignty relate to globalization?
Globalization is a powerful force, but it cannot be allowed to erode national identity or our capacity to determine our own future. My conviction has always been that France must retain its sovereignty, its ability to make its own choices. This doesn't mean isolation, far from it. It means engaging with the world on our own terms, asserting our values, and ensuring that global forces serve the interests of our people, not the other way around. We must master globalization, not be mastered by it. This requires a strong France, a united Europe, and a clear-eyed understanding of where our national interests lie.
