Jacek Błażewicz's core idea in scheduling
At the core of my work is the formalization of scheduling problems. This involves precisely defining the elements: a set of jobs or tasks, the resources available (like machines), processing times, and any dependencies or precedence relationships between tasks. From this precise definition, we analyze the problem's complexity, often demonstrating its NP-hard nature. The subsequent focus is on designing efficient approximation algorithms or heuristics that can find near-optimal solutions within reasonable computational bounds.
