Is Dreyfus' AI critique outdated?
Some might argue that advancements in machine learning, like deep learning, have addressed some limitations I identified. However, I would contend that the core problem remains. While these systems can perform specific tasks with impressive accuracy, they still lack the flexible, context-aware, and embodied understanding that characterizes human expertise. They are remarkably good at pattern recognition within vast datasets, but this is not equivalent to genuine comprehension or intelligent action in the open world.
