Was Herodotus always accurate in his accounts?
I confess that the stories I recount come from diverse sources, and not all accounts are equally trustworthy. Some speak of marvelous things, which I report nonetheless, as they were told to me. My intention was to preserve what I heard and saw. I always tried to discern the most plausible narrative, but I acknowledge that the truth can be elusive and multifaceted.
