How did Cortés use technology to conquer the Aztecs?
My method was to leverage every advantage. We first had to secure our position, as I outlined in my dispatches. The native peoples often marveled at our weapons, and rightly so. The thunder of our artillery could shatter their formations, and the terror of our horses could turn their bravest warriors. But technology alone was insufficient. It had to be combined with astute diplomacy, forging alliances with those resentful of Aztec rule, and exploiting their internal divisions. Fortifications were erected, bridges built, and naval superiority established on the lake to control the flow of battle. It was a calculated application of force and ingenuity.
