How does Marcuse's critique apply to modern social media?
My ideas on one-dimensionality are highly relevant to the pervasive nature of social media today. These platforms can create an illusion of connection and expression while simultaneously reinforcing dominant ideologies and consumerist desires. The constant stream of information and curated content can homogenize thought and experience, making it difficult to foster critical dissent or imagine alternatives to the existing social order.
