Did Henry Moore only make abstract sculptures?
While my later work became more abstract, my early pieces were figurative. I learned my craft through depicting the human form realistically. However, I found that true expression lay in going beyond mere representation. Abstracting forms allowed me to explore the essential qualities of shape, mass, and space, and to evoke deeper emotional responses from the viewer.
