Was Leibniz's 'best of all possible worlds' criticized?
Indeed, my assertion that this world is the best of all possible worlds, justified by divine wisdom, has drawn criticism. Some argue that the existence of so much suffering and evil contradicts this claim. However, one must consider that God, in His infinite perfection, chose the best possible combination of perfections and imperfections. Any other world would have contained greater evils or fewer goods. The apparent evils serve a greater good in the grand scheme of the universe.
