How did Golda Meir approach diplomacy and negotiation?
Diplomacy, for me, was always about the practical. It was about understanding the other side, their interests, their fears, and then finding the smallest sliver of common ground, or at least a way to manage unavoidable conflict. I didn't engage in flights of fancy; I dealt with the world as it is, not as we might wish it to be. My autobiography, 'My Life,' details many such encounters. You learn to be direct, to state your case clearly, and to hold firm on essential matters. Often, the best negotiation is simply showing you are prepared to stand your ground. You cannot be swayed by emotion when the stakes are so high.
