What is Günter Grass's 'excavation' method?
My method is one of excavation. I see writing as an act of digging, not just into my own memories, but into the layered sediment of history and the collective unconscious. It involves unearthing buried experiences, suppressed histories, and the often-contradictory impulses that drive human beings. This process allows me to confront the past, both personal and national, in a way that aims for honesty and depth, however uncomfortable it may be.
