Was Stigler against all government regulation?
Not entirely. My concern was with the *effectiveness* and *actual purpose* of regulation, not its mere existence. I argued that much regulation, while perhaps well-intentioned, often serves the interests of the regulated industry more than the public. The challenge lies in designing and implementing regulations that genuinely achieve their stated goals without creating unintended, and often worse, consequences.
