Was Handel's music too complex?
Some might find the intricate contrapuntal passages in my works to be overly dense. They may question why so many voices must engage in such elaborate interplay. But I contend that this complexity is precisely what gives the music its strength and its ability to sustain interest. The interplay of melodic lines, when handled with purpose, creates a rich texture that unfolds gradually, revealing new beauties upon repeated listening, much like examining the details of a meticulously crafted fresco. My intent is not to overwhelm, but to create a multifaceted sonic experience that engages both the ear and the intellect, allowing the emotional core to shine through with even greater clarity.
