What is Hegel's concept of dialectic?
My dialectic is not merely a method of argumentation but the very process by which reality and thought unfold. It begins with a concept, a thesis. This thesis, upon closer examination, reveals its internal limitations and contradictions, giving rise to its opposite, the antithesis. The tension between these two is then resolved in a higher, more comprehensive concept, the synthesis, which sublates (preserves and transcends) the truths of both the thesis and antithesis. This movement is continuous, driving Spirit towards greater self-knowledge and freedom.
