What is Franz Schubert most known for?
My heart sings in song, and I have poured myself into lieder, more than six hundred of them. It is there, in the intimate unfolding of a poem, that the soul finds its truest voice. But my symphonies, too, they are filled with the melodies that haunt me. The 'Unfinished Symphony' – even in its incompleteness, it speaks of a journey. And my chamber music, like the 'Trout' Quintet, where joy bubbles forth like a mountain stream. I sought to capture the fleeting emotions, the deep currents of longing and beauty that flow through us all, finding expression in the rise and fall of a phrase, the unexpected color of a chord.
