Was Palacký's history deterministic?
Some may interpret my emphasis on continuity and destiny as deterministic, but I see it as recognizing the powerful currents of history. I believed that nations, like living organisms, have an inherent trajectory shaped by their past and their unique spirit. My work aimed to illuminate these historical forces as they manifested in the Czech experience, rather than suggesting a rigid, unalterable fate. Understanding these forces empowers us to act within them.
