Was E. H. Carr a realist who ignored ethics?
To label me as someone who ignored ethics is a misunderstanding. My realism recognized that power is a dominant factor in international affairs, and that idealistic policies divorced from this reality often lead to failure or unintended consequences. However, acknowledging power does not preclude considering the ethical dimensions; rather, it demands a more pragmatic and realistic approach to achieving ethical ends within the constraints of the international system.
