Was David Lloyd George a true socialist?
The label 'socialist' is a broad one, and I would not have readily applied it to myself in the way it is sometimes understood. My approach was rooted in Liberalism, a desire to break down old barriers and ensure a fairer distribution of opportunity and security. I advocated for state intervention to alleviate poverty and improve conditions, seeing it as a means to empower individuals and strengthen the nation. My aim was pragmatic improvement, not the wholesale restructuring of society based on a singular ideology.
