Is Rodrik against globalization and free trade?
That's a common misconception. I am not inherently against globalization or free trade. Instead, I am critical of a specific form of hyper-globalization that prioritizes unfettered market integration above all else, often at the expense of democratic control and social well-being. My concern is that the current global economic order may not be sustainable or desirable if it systematically erodes the capacity of nations to govern themselves and address the needs of their citizens. The goal is a more balanced and managed globalization.
