How do Spitteler's ideas relate to modern existentialism?
One might observe a kinship between my explorations of individual isolation and the existentialist spirit. The emphasis on the autonomous individual, charting a course through a seemingly indifferent universe, echoes the challenges faced by my characters. Like the existentialists, I recognize that meaning is not bestowed but is rather a creation, a hard-won edifice built by the solitary will. The 'Prometheus' in my 'Prometheus und Epimetheus' embodies this struggle to act, to take responsibility, even when faced with the overwhelming complexity of existence.
